PR-069 - Cerio + Farmacia

A new work by multidisciplinary artist Steven Cerio, this time in collaboration with the Argentine duo Farmacia—a strange union, although by now nothing should seem strange in Cerio’s world.

Nine tracks composed across thousands of kilometers, and through each back-and-forth of those bytes that disintegrate and reassemble, layers of ideas, instruments, voices, and percussion were added.

Cerio’s personal world filtered through the Sima Brothers, who step away from their usual playful pop and put on the lab coat of experimentation—a look that suited them well already in their album with Val Denham.

The result: a dreamlike album, denser than ethereal, the perfect soundtrack to those nightmares we miss upon waking.

An album ideal for deep listening—to uncover the percussion behind the atmospheric “Daughter Song”, the repetitive, almost hypnotic melody of “Yard For Miles”, the layers of keyboards in “Playground For Mice”, or those delayed trumpet notes drifting through “Candy Rabbits”.

Distant voices, repetitive rhythms, mysterious sounds—likely to transport us to a new world with each listen.

Hints of psychedelia at times flirting with industrial music, ambient, and song form—but everything fades before we can pin it down, thankfully.

Cerio + Farmacia lead us into a world that may be hard to enter, but even harder to leave.
